D. Scott Brown
USA Swimming Coach, Level 1
YMCA Lifeguard
CPR Certified

Swimming since the age of 5, Scott has been competitive at all levels, from summer league competition to Division I-A collegiate athletics to international invitational swim meets.  During his high school years, Scott was a member of the 1994 Men's Junior National West Championship team, Texas Aquatics.  He also competed in two Texas High School State Championship meets, reaching consolation finals in the 200 IM his senior year.  Scott was a regular selection to the Texas Age Group All-Star team in multiple events, and a one-time selection to the USS National Select camp (top 28 male swimmers in his age group) in Colorado Springs for his performances as a distance swimmer.

Scott went on to compete in one of the top swimming conferences in the country, the Pacific-10.  In only his junior year at Arizona State, Scott was elected by his teammates to be team captain.  Sidelined by injury after his senior year in college, Scott turned his swimming focus towards coaching.  While finishing out his degree, Scott volunteered as an assistant coach for the collegiate Sun Devils, working closely with injured and rehabilitating swimmers.  After a short break from swimming and coaching, Scott dove right back in in 2006, working with the Hill Country Tri Club to improve swimming technique of members, and provide training guidance in the water.  In addition to that, Scott helped to launch the Plum Creek Dolphin summer swim program and the Hays Swim Club, which received a great response from swimmers, parents, and the neighborhood.
